>About KCDF> President's Message
Crafts that Bridge the Sky and the Earth, ‘Shed a new light on craft and design that are inseparable from our lives and culture of 5,000 years. Develop a vision of the craft industry to include a nature-friendly lifestyle and the principle of coexistence.’
In the 21st century, humanism and creativity have come into the spotlight as important values that can replace or at least supplement the materialism which has dominated the world ever since the industrial age. Over the years, environmental concerns have grown to a great extent, and the traditional culture of each region has gained added value around the world. Under these circumstances, craft and design are drawing people’s attention as a higher value-added industry.
We enjoy a nature-friendly lifestyle and outstanding traditional crafts. If we can create a synergy by combining these assets with modern design, our craft industry will be able to raise its competitiveness in the world market.
To this end, the KCDF is focusing on the essence of craft based on humanistic values. And it will try to reflect the spirit of our times and prepare for the future as well. The KCDF hopes to usher in the era of craft culture that enriches people’s lives.
The KCDF will make every effort to boost the productivity of the craft culture industry, modernize traditional crafts and promote Korean crafts in the world market by encouraging cooperation among various sectors like culture, art and technology. With these strategies, the KCDF will make Korean crafts a global brand.
We would like to ask for your continued interest and support.
Thank you.
President of the Korea Craft & Design Foundation, Choi Jeong-sim
